Avi Roig of It’s a trap continues his appreciation of The Goner!

The second installment of the H-TRILOGY – Hind Hand – is finally released! In the process of recording this The Goner has entered new territory. Focusing more on the psychedelic and folk influences has led him to work with drumloops and using the five-string banjo a lot more than before. Each song is a journey through new sound architecture but the record is kept together as whole with the relatively few components and recording techniques. The Goner is aiming for a direct approach to recording and songwriting. It is important not to loose the sense of spontaneity. This recording also led The Goner to discover the so-called DRONE HUT, a bomb shelter no longer in use with great acoustics, at a secret location.

Hind Hand consists of seven tracks, with a total of 43 minutes of psychedelic folkdrone bliss! This is the fourth cd-r release by Svarta Marknaden. It is limited to 33 copies (numbered). The cd-r has an unique primitive handdrawing and comes in a black envelope which also carries a numbered postcard and an insert with a philosophical mission statement (a cut-up with bits from Philip K Dick and René Guenon among others). Order by mailing aparallellitet [at] gmail.com. 40 SEK plus shipping.

I finished mixing the second part of the H-Trilogy by The Goner last night and this morning I ordered the postcard for the sleeve. Hind Hand will come in a black envelope, same size as Halartrallar, of course.

It’s a trap writes:

“The Goner fits the definition of a cult artist to a T. What else can you say about a bedroom artist who puts out extremely limited hand-packaged CDRs of unique psych-pop? “Halartrallar” is the first EP of his planned H-Trilogy on his own Svarta Marknaden label. 33 copies in all, packaged in an oversized envelope. The music ranges from melancholy ballads to droning freak-folk to other songs such as today’s pick “Kill them all save Simon Joyner”- a poppy, upbeat almost-country number with nonsensical lyrics, pop culture non-sequiturs, a driving bassline and metallic cling-clang percussion. I must admit that I’m not too terribly familiar with the subject of the song’s namesake, but a cursory listen will prove he is undoubtedly an influence. This is lo-fi DIY and I like it a lot. Even better, check out some samples from the forthcoming “Hind hand” CDR at The Goner’s myspace page and be blown away. This sort of artistry blossoms well under obscurity, but it doesn’t have to be that way.”
